Paleo Ketchup Recipe

We’ve been posting quite a few gluten free pie recipes this week, including some Australian favorites – the chicken pie and the lamb pie. But every true Aussie knows that a good meat pie just isn’t complete without plenty of sauce (aka “ketchup”). Sadly, so much of the ketchup available in stores today is laden with high fructose corn syrup, food coloring, preservatives, and other additives that are probably best not ingested. Luckily, making your own homemade ketchup couldn’t be easier! Follow our simple instructions for easy Paleo Ketchup and you’ll be enjoying your pies and sauce in no time!

  • 2 cans tomato paste (12 oz.)
  • 4 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ⅛ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp non-iodized salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • (optional) ½ cup golden syrup (adding this will make the ketchup not Paleo, but it will taste more like the ketchup you’re used to getting at fast food places)

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. It really is that easy! Enjoy with your gluten free Aussie meat pies, or on whatever you desire! You can store this in the fridge just as you would any other ketchup.
